Panaji: The BJP today slammed the opposition for frequent stalling of the Parliament over demonetisation, calling it “negative” politics, and said the people now looked upon the Prime Minister as “messiah” of poor and honest.
“Over the last few weeks, (you have seen) how, many opposition parties have been blocking the parliament, how they have been adopting negative politics….How they have been stalling new initiative of the Central Government,” BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao said here, referring to the demonetisation.
“Be it government of West Bengal, Communist government in Kerala or Delhi Government of AAP, lot of them are adopting purely negative politics for the sake of opposing the government at the Centre,” he said.
Narendra Modi Government was becoming more and more popular with every passing day due to the bold decision taken by it, he claimed.
“Today the Prime Minister is seen as a messiah of poor.
Messiah of the honest. For the first time, you people believe that there is a Prime Minister who can take bold decisions in the larger national interest. This is the message I am getting during my visits to several states,” Rao claimed.
“Generally you see a negative wave against the government in power….rarely one can see a positive wave of support with the party in power,” the BJP spokesperson said.
Even after two and a half years in power, the popularity of Modi and his government was on rise, he said, adding “the best proof of that you can find through the election results” (in various parts of the country).
“In the states where we have been a very small party, like in Tripura and West Bengal, (now) there we have actually become principal opposition….So now BJP is breaking new political ground,” he added.
