New Delhi : Controversial All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi today said that the Jallikattu protests are a lesson for the Hindutva forces.
“Lesson for Hindutva forces, Uniform Civil Code cannot be imposed this nation cannot have one culture we celebrate all,” he said in a tweet.
His tweet came when thousands of people in Tamil Nadu are protesting after the Supreme Court dismissed the state’s plea seeking recall of its 2014 verdict banning Jallikattu.

The sea of protesters continued to swell on the Marina beach in Chennai for the fourth day on Friday as supporters of Jallikattu staged their protest.
The Tamil Nadu government has been repeatedly urging the Centre to issue an ordinance for the Jallikattu sport, which is held during the Tamil harvest festival Pongal. The Supreme Court had banned the sport in 2014, following which the political parties in the state protested.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam in Delhi on Thursday and told him while he fully understood the sentiments of the people, the issue was sub judice. Modi, however, assured the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister that the Centre would support the steps taken by the state government.
Ruling AIADMK MPs will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday seeking the Centre’s help to allow conduct of Jallikattu, over which protests are raging across Tamil Nadu. All the 49 party MPs, including 37 from Lok Sabha, would call on Singh at 12 pm tomorrow tentatively. Private schools and colleges are shut across the state.
