Sangrur: Punjab Congress vice president Gaganjit Barnala, along with general secretary Baldev Mann, resigned from the Congress on Thursday.
They sent in their resignations to the AICC office at night.
Refusing to divulge the reason for the sudden decision, Barnala said he would decide about his future in the coming few days.
“We are in touch with our supporters and will take the final decision about our future in the coming few days,” he said.
Baldev Mann said all senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal had approved of their ‘ghar wapsi’ into the SAD.
About SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who always opposed the Barnala group, Mann said Dhindsa was also present at the recent meeting they had with SAD chief Sukhbir Badal.
“We will rejoin the SAD at Sangrur or Barnala on January 28. Our supporters have asked us to rejoin the party,” he said.
