Patna: On Tuesday late night tornado struck in the north Bihar, at least 50 people are feared dead. So far, 32 people have been confirmed dead. 15 people were killed in the Purnia district. Loss of life and property has been consistently reported in the headquarters. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced Rs four lakh compensation to each of dead families who lost there lives due to storm. Purnia, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Araria are the most effected district by the storm. Electricity and telecom system have been totally disrupted in the effected districts.
Purnia district Magistrate Rajesh Kumar confirmed the deaths of 15 people. More than 12 people were killed in Dgrua block. He continues to work in the field survey. Unconfirmed reports says 25 dead in Purnia and the number is likely to increase. More than 50 injured people has been admitted in the Civil Hospital.
Department of Disaster Management Chief Secretary said storm killed 32 people and injured several. There are over 10 thousand houses were destroyed.
