New Delhi: Amidst the political furor and the on- going blame game after the suicide of Gajendra Singh, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal apologized for continuing his address even after the incident, and said that there was no need for blame game. But on issue of resignation of CM AAP questions Why should Kejriwal quit? Did Modi resign after 2002.
Meanwhile Gajendra Singh’s family submitted a memorandum to the Rajasthan health minister, demanding a CBI probe into the farmer’s death at the AAP Kisan rally. The family also alleged that Gajendra’s death was not a suicide. The Rajasthan state government promised to forward the memorandum to the Centre.
AAP leader Ashutosh took a dig at PM Narendra Modi and said Kejriwal shouldn’t resign because Modi did not resign after the 2002 Gujarat riots.
“We are not here to do Chanakya politics. If the media wants the people to believe that AAP is responsible for the farmer’s suicide, what about the farmers who died in Maharashtra and other states?” Ashutosh said.
Defending why he did not stop his speech, Kejriwal said, “I made a mistake. I should have called off the rally. I continued my speech (after farmer’s suicide), that was my error. I apologize if someone’s sentiments have been hurt. I could not announce from the stage about what was happening on the tree, as there would have been a stampede.”
Kejriwal further added that the tree from which the farmer hanged himself during the ‘Kissan Rally’ was not visible from the stage. “I have never had such an experience in my life. The tree was far from the stage and due to tree’s branches I couldn’t see what was happening.”
