Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi: The Janata Dal-United today maintained that any adverse comment on its leader Nitish Kumar by Congress leaders is “unfortunate” and said the principal opposition party did never talk to JD(U) leaders on any move to field former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar for the Presidential elections.”Congress party never consulted to us on their intent of making Meira Kumar the Presidential candidate. If they (Congress) had proposed any her name before the candidature of Ram Nath Kovind was decided, we could have supported Meira Kumar,” JD(U) leader K C Tyagi told reporters here.He also said any adverse comment on party chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by Congress leaders would be unfortunate.”Some remarks have been reported in the media. Such remarks against our leader actually hurts us,” Mr Tyagi said. The JD(U) leader’s response came as senior Congress Ghulam Nabi Azad had a few days back slammed Mr Kumar for backing the candidature of NDA nominee Mr Kovind.”People who believe in one principle make one decision, but those who believe in many principles make different decisions,” Mr Azad has said criticising Mr Kumar.
