Gandhi’s Twitter handle “Office of RG” created on Wednesday carries his profile picture, but has no bio on it. Within a day after it was created, it crossed 8,500 followers , though it is yet to send out any tweets. The Congress leader is yet to announce his account publicly but sources in his office confirmed that the account belonged to him.
Sources said Gandhi had stayed away from Twitter so far as he was apprehensive of being trolled by hired and freelance followers of political rivals. Already knives are out for him in twitterdom. ‘Arrogance Personified , He didn’t open his account, instead @OfficeOfRG.. Behaving like a monarch,’ said a tweet from @piyushkaul. “Breaking: Rahul Gandhi is on Twitter now: @OfficeOfRG. Direct your jokes here,” tweeted @GabbbarSingh.
