Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party won the Bawana by-election in Delhi. AAP won Bawan assembly bypoll by 24052 votes. AAP got 59886, BJP 31919 and congress got 35834. Bypoll result shows that AAP and BJP vote bank is shrinking rapidly wile congress is improvong day by day in Delhi. In last election Congress got only seven percent votes while this election congress vote percent oncrease to 22 percent. Vote percentage of AAP shrink 52 percent to 45 and BJP vote percent shrink 32 to 27.
After 26th round of counting in Bawana bypoll, AAP is on the verge of victory. AAP 58209; BJP 34501; Congress 30758
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal retaining the seat is a massive shot in the arm. AAP supporters began celebrations as the party pulled a lead of around 15,000 votes after 18th round of counting in Bawana assembly bypoll.
The Aam Aadmi Party looks set to win the Bawana bypoll in a performance it was so desperate to pull off after a series of losses since its landslide victory in Delhi assembly elections in 2015.
After closing in on Congress in the initial rounds, AAP has raced ahead by a wide margin making it possible for the party now to retain its seat in Bawana. Though the Congress seemed to be leading in the initial rounds it was pushed back to the third spot in the latter half of the counting by BJP, which had swept the municipal polls in April this year and scored an easy second spot last time.
Bypoll in Bawana became necessary after AAP candidate Ved Parkash returned to BJP just before the municipal polls. Parkash, a former vice-president of BJP Youth Wing, is contesting Bawana bypoll on a BJP ticket.
The AAP has fielded party volunteer Ram Chandra, who had contested assembly poll from Bawana in 2008 on a BSP ticket. The Congress fielded party veteran and three-time MLA from Bawana Surender Kumar.
