Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi : The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved Honeypreet Insan’s anticipatory bail application, but wondered why she didn’t approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court instead.
The Haryana Police opposed Honeypreet’s application calling it “forum shopping”.
Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet, the adopted daughter of the jailed dera chief, tops the list of 43 persons ‘wanted’ by the Haryana Police in connection with incidents of violence that had followed Ram Rahim’s conviction in the rape cases.
Singh was found guilty for having raped two of his female followers in a case that dates back to 2002 on August 25 and later sentenced to 20 years jail.
The rape conviction followed large-scale violence in which 41 people were killed and hundreds wounded.
Honeypreet had accompanied the dera head when he had come to the special CBI court on August 25. She had also travelled along with him in the special chopper that ferried them to Rohtak from Panchkula after the conviction, but went missing soon after.
A Panchukla court issued an arrest warrant against Honeypreet Insan, dera spokesperson Aditya Insan, and dera’s top functionary Pawan Insan on Monday.
