Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi : The Delhi Police on Sunday issued notice to Max Hospital after the hospital negligencely declared a newborn dead.
News reports said that a woman delivered twins — a boy fbaby girl was stillborn, the reports quoted the family as saying, but the hospital kept the boy in observation for a few hours before they declared him dead. The twins were handed to the family in plastic bags.
At the cremation ground, parents found the baby boy moving in the plastic bag and immediately took him to a nearby hospital, which confirmed that the child was alive.
The child has been kept on life support at a hospital in Pitampura, sources said.
Police have asked the hospital staff to appear for questioning.
The Delhi Government on Sunday ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Max Hospital said that it was setting up a committee of experts to investigate the case.
“Investigations are expected to conclude by tomorrow, December 4, and findings are expected to be shared thereafter,” the hospital said on Sunday evening.
