National Conference MLA Mian Altaf on Monday raised the issue of people getting killed on the border, in the Assembly and demanded that the government issue a statement.
The government assured the statement after Question Hour.
BJP MLA Ravinder Raina raised the issue of Pakistani firing on the LoC and demanded that a resolution be brought out against Pakistan in the Assembly.
Opposition MLAs attacked the PDP-BJP government for its alleged failure.
“Where is the 56-inch chest?” asked National Conference MLA Devender Singh Rana. He alleged that the BJP talked about J&K in the rest of the country, but no action was being taken in the state to save the lives of people.
BJP MLAs raised ‘Pakistan murdabad’ slogans.
Rana asked the BJP MLAs to go inside Pakistan instead of raising slogans.
Opposition raised slogans against the government, telling it not to do politics over the bodies of soldiers.
The Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes. Later, the House resumed proceedings amid sloganeering.
NC MLA Rana said let the CM bring in a resolution and then they would discuss the issue.
The Speaker directed the government to bring in the resolution in case there was a consensus.
PDP MLA Javed Baig said it is a very serious issue, and appeal should go from here to both the countries.
Peace and reconciliation process is the only way out, said PDP minister Abdul Rehman Veeri. “We want the process started by Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be taken forward,” he added. Omar Abdullah agreed with Veeri.
