‘Lalit row exposed BJP links with black money holders’

New Delhi: Now Assam Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is alleging that the foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and Lalit Modi episode has exposed BJP’s links with black money holders.
Gogoi lashed out at the Modi government saying that by supporting foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, the NDA government at the Centre has not only exposed its nexus with former IPL chief Lalit Modi, who is an offender, but also all black money holders.
The chief minister alleged that the NDA is giving protection and helping ‘known offender’ Lalit Modi which has exposed Modi’s much-vaunted promise of good governance and bringing back black money. “Narendra Modi promised to bring back black money stashed away in foreign banks. But the way a known offender like Lalit Modi is being helped, it only showed that black money holders are being protected,” said Gogoi alleged.
He added, “It has come to light that Rajasthan chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also has a relationship with him (Lalit Modi). Without the Prime Minister’s support, how can the ministers and party members help Lalit Modi? This amounts to impropriety.”
Swaraj has been drawing sharp criticism from the opposition, especially Congress, for allegedly helping Lalit Modi with emergency travel documents in the UK. BJP argued it was a humanitarian assistance to help Lalit so that he can be with his wife during her cancer surgery in Portugal.
Gogoi alleged that Swaraj’s help to a ‘known offender’ like Lalit Modi is like helping Dawood Ibrahim (absconding crime syndicate leader) on humanitarian grounds.
