Janjivan Bureau / Ranchi : The Jharkhand Police on Friday rescued three policemen who were reportedly abducted from BJP legislator Karia Munda’s home allegedly by Pathalgarhi supporters in Kunti district of the state
Three policemen identified as Subodh Kujur, Binod Kerketta and Suyon Surin were safely rescued, even as their arms were yet to be recovered. They had been deployed at the home of Jharkhand’s tribal leader Karia Munda in Kunti.
The policemen were released by the abductors on Friday due to growing police pressure and locals’ support. A large number of police personnel had been deployed in and around Ghagara village to trace them. These armed security guards were allegedly kidnapped by supporters of “Pathalgarhi”—an anti-establishment, self-rule movement in parts of the state’s tribal belt.
Jharkhand director-general of police D K Pandey said: “Growing police pressure and locals’ support, we succeeded in getting released our three policemen on Friday. Wherever is required we used mild forces but always kept welfare of the villagers so that they could not be harmed”.
Sources said: “Over 200 Pathalgarhi supporters, who were protesting police manhunt around the accused home in their locality in the rape of five woman activists last week, had allegedly dragged away three security guards manned at BJP lawmaker’s residence at Anigara village of Kunti district three days ago. They took away their INSAS rifles too”.
