Patna: After two students at his school were found dead near the institution’s premises villager beaten the school head till death on Sunday.
Villager of Nirpur in Nalanda district, went on a rampage shortly after the bodies of two boys were found from a ditch near the ‘DPS’ school.
Mob assaulted the school head, torched a school vehicle and set fire to two rooms in the building. The school head died on way of Patna for treatment.
“This school is a two room establishment. As of now, I am not sure if it is even affiliated to any board. I have asked the district education officer to find out”, Nalanda superintendent of police Siddharth told to janjivan late Sunday afternoon.According to the SP, the two children who were found in a ditch were in the age group of “seven and eight”. They were part of a group of four students who had gone near the ditch.
“It appears they had gone there to relieve themselves when two of the group slipped and fell into the water and drowned this (Sunday) morning. It had rained yesterday and the water level in the ditch had risen”, he explained.
Police were rushed to the neighbourhood as a mob blaming the school authorities turned violent. “Six policemen were injured while trying to quell the mob”, Sunil Kumar, a Nalanda police officer, said.
The SP said the police faced stiff resistance from the mob when it reached the spot around 10:30am, “When the acting SHO of Nalanda could not control the situation, a larger police party headed by a deputy SP was rushed to the spot”, he added.
