Janjivan Bureau / Islamabad : Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday met and hugged Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at oath taking ceremony of Imran Khan in Islamabad.
Sidhu, who was wearing a dark blue suit and a pink turban, was seen seated next to President of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) Masood Khan at the swearing-in ceremony.
The Pakistan government instead of seating Sidhu with other foreign dignitaries, positioned him next to Masood Khan in Aiwan-e-Sadr Hall of President’s House.
Earlier, Sidhu and Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa were spotted hugging each other at the President House prior to the oath taking ceremony.
Before entering the President House, Sidhu said: “People like Khan Sahab (Imran Khan) create history. With this invitation, they have honoured me. People who build relationships are respected, people who break them are disrespected and I am one of those who respect relationships. It’s a new dawn. This government has come to change this country’s perception, picture and destiny, with high hopes and expectations.”
Sidhu arrived in Lahore via the Wagah border from where he traveled to Islamabad to attend his friend Imran Khan’s oath taking ceremony as Pakistan’s prime minister.
With a message of peace and prosperity between India and Pakistan, Sidhu had on Friday afternoon crossed the Attari-Wagah border.
After getting mandatory clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs, Sidhu was overwhelmed to receive a call from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Before crossing over to Wagah, Sidhu expressed his feeling in his one liner, “Hindustan jive te Pakistan jive, hasda wasda eh sara jahan jive……..te aan baan shaan naal…..pyar aman te khushhali ban ke mera yaar Imran Khan jive.”
