Janjivan Bureau / Chandigarh : A fresh attempt to broker peace in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed yet again when the warring faction lead by Sukhpal Singh Khaira sat one-row behind the other faction MLAs to signify there separate entity in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
This come after the group led by Harpal Singh Cheema sent his emissary and party legislator H S Phoolka to convince Khaira to take his seat in the assembly. At one point Phoolka was seen inviting Khaira to take his seat. But even as he was walking up to take that place, another rebel group MLA Kanwar Sandhu refused to sit along with MLAs belonging to Cheema group. Finally, the rebel faction took their place a row away from where the other MLAs sat.
Earlier in the day, Cheema group tried their best to persuade Sukhpal Khaira to join them in the Punjab Assembly session that gets under way on Friday.
Dakha MLA HS Phoolka and Sunam MLA Aman Arora went to Khaira’s house to end the deadlock over seats’ allocation for AAP MLAs and would request him and his group to attend the session with the party.
It is learnt that Phoolka has even offered his front-row seat in the Assembly to Khaira.
Before leaving for Khaira’s place, the two AAP leaders had held a meeting with the other party MLAs in the Assembly.
Phoolka had said there was less possibility of Khaira speaking in the Assembly. “I am not sure if he will agree to the proposal.”
Arora said it was imperative for the party to stay united in the Assembly at least.
