Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi: In a sharp attack on Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday claimed that degeneration of ideology due to personal grievances and ambitions have compelled the grand old party leadership to support a congregation where ‘Bharat ke tukde tukde’ (India you will be divided) slogans were raised.
“Would Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi ever have gone to a congregation where “Bharat ke tukde tukde” slogans were raised? Certainly not. But now degeneration of ideology because of personal grievances and ambitions compelled Congress party leadership to do so,” said the Finance Minister, while speaking at India Ideas’ Conclave.
Intensifying his attack further, Jaitley said,”I hope those who claim the political legacy of Pandit Ji, if they have an aptitude for reading, will certainly read 2 paragraphs of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s obituary tribute to former PM Pt. Nehru in Parliament in 1964.”
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah had alleged that the grand old party backs the concept of ‘Bharat tere tukde honge. He was speaking at a youth summit in Gwalior in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.
