New Delhi: Besides alopathy medicine seven All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will also provide the AYUSH wing soon. Initially, there would be 30 beds for ayurveda and as many for homoeopathy in each AIIMS. The health ministry’s nod for appointing two doctors, one for Ayurveda and another for homoeopathy, besides the supporting staff.
Health Ministry sources said the infrastructure is ready and the institute are waiting for the green signal. AIIMS Bhuvneshwar is also planning to offer postgraduate courses in at least eight basic sciences and para-clinical disciplines starting December.
AIIMS director Ashok Mahapatra said the institute will offer MS in anatomy, MD in physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, forensic medicine, pharmacology and community medicine. Besides, it will also admit PhD students in these disciplines.
“We hope the governing body of the institute (chaired by Union health minister J P Nadda) will give the go-ahead for opening of the courses,” he said.
Just like its parent institute AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Bhubaneswar will admit students for postgraduate and postdoctoral courses twice a year, in December and July. Two students will be taken in each course every admission session.
The institute has total 69 faculty members and recently advertised for 244 more posts (the online application process is scheduled to start on July 20). These include 43 professors, 38 additional professors, 73 associate professors and 90 assistant professors in altogether 41 disciplines.
In the ongoing counseling for MMBS admission, 92 students have opted for AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. The counseling for the rest eight students will be held soon. The premier hospital has 330 beds and offered OPD care to 1.25 lakh patients and indoor care to 6,600 in past six months, hospital sources said
