Chennai: A 10-year-old Pakistan boys body not accepted the Indian donated heart and he died. The boys heart was transplanted from a donor of Hyderabad. Hospital sources said he died on Wednesday morning.
The child, who had been admitted almost a month ago at the Frontier Lifeline Hospital, was living with his family in Dubai. He had had dilated cardiomyopathy and had been transplanted with a heart from a 12-year-old brain dead boy in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
According to K.M. Cherian, chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline Hospital where the transplant took place, the child had right ventricular failure due to high pressure in his lungs. “The new heart could not pump adequately because of the extremely high pressure. His liver was also in a bad shape, and there was a lot of fluid build-up in his abdomen, which we were draining every other day,” said Dr. Cherian.
