Janjivan Bureau / Rohtak : Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked Congress leader Sam Pitroda over his comment on 1984 riots. The prime minister was addressing a rally at Rohtak on Friday for BJP’s candidates Arvind Sharma, who is contesting from Rohtak, and Ramesh Chander Kaushik, who is fighting from Sonipat.
“This reflects the Congress’ arrogance… Sam Pitroda is among the Congress’ top leaders. He is closest to the Gandhi family and has been their secret keeper. He was the closest friend of Rajiv Gandhi and guru of ‘namdaar’ (Congress president Rahul Gandhi,” Modi said.
Modi said that for the Congress, human life had no value. “About 2,800 Sikhs were killed (in 1984 riots). They were brought out of their homes and killed. Tyres were put around their necks and set on fire. Thousands of the Sikhs have to flee with their families. The Congress leaders led the mobs. Now, they are saying, ‘Hua to Hua’ (it happened, so what,” he said.
“It is the karma of Congress’ “naamdaars” that they have been reduced to 44 (seats in Lok Sabha),” he said.
It was the Congress president Rahul Gandhi who had first commented about karma. He had tweeted: “Modi Ji, The battle is over. Your karma awaits you. Projecting your inner beliefs about yourself onto my father won’t protect you…”
He had responded as Modi had remarked that his father Rajiv Gandhi, ended his life as “Bharashtachari (corrupt) No. 1.
While attacking former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s tenure, Modi said: “Corruption is Congress’ culture. Here, ‘rewris’ are famous. The Congress distributed jobs like ‘rewris’ and sold them. Manohar Lal government ended this. They (Congress people) bought farmers’ land at cheaper rates and cultivated corruption”.
Making a veiled attack on Congress leaders who are facing corruption cases, he said: “They have reached at the door. Give me five more years. I will send those to jail, who have looted this country”. At present, Hooda, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and brother-in-law Robert Vadra are on bail in different cases.
Modi said that the Congress never talked about national security and cited about Samjhauta blasts in Panipat (in 2007). “They made Pakistani terrorists to flee and innocent people were framed,” he said, and added that they were labelled as Hindu terrorists. “The Congress will get a reply for this,” he said.
He said that from 2004-2014, the Pakistani terrorists used to carry out blasts in India. “But your “chowkidar” (watchman) has given free hand to jawans. If they fire a bullet, ‘chowkidar’ will fire a shell,” he said, and added that in case of attack, they would enter the house of enemy and kill.
“Yours is one of the fastest emerging economies…’Vande Bharat’ will be the fastest train. Not just land, air and water, we have the capacity to carry out surgical strike even in space. Who has done this?” he asked. The people chanted Modi’s name in reply. But he said: “Your reply is wrong. You are saying Modi has done this, but it is your one vote which has achieved it. Had you not selected an honest and strong government, it wouldn’t have been possible”.
“Every vote of yours will go in Modi’s account. More voting will ensure more votes in my account,” he said.
