Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi : Opposition on Saturday began formal parleys to stitch an anti-BJP front with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu leading the negotiations.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu began his opposition meetings with a morning engagement with Congress president Rahul Gandhi and breakfast meeting with CPI chief Sudhakar Reddy and leader D Raja.
Naidu who earlier also worked on bringing the opposition together to draft a common minimum programme today also met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Loktantrik Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav. He met SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati in Lucknow later in the evening.
Naidu has already met Bengal chief minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and has said he would not mind working with YSRCP and TRS to keep the BJP away.
Gandhi has on Friday said the Congress would await the results of Lok Sabha polls on May 23 before taking a final call on strategy and the Prime Minister issue.
The Congress has made it clear that regional forces won’t back the BJP should the BJP fall short of numbers to form the government.
Gandhi also said the opposition parties that have contested separately are ideologically on the same page on keeping the BJP away from power.
