New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praise SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and thaked him for to bring an end to the ongoing impasse in Parliament.Yadav, who has distanced himself from the Congress’ stand of not allowing the House to function.
In weekly meeting of the BJP parliamentary party Modi said some people are misusing Parliament to stop the pace of the country’s growth.
The Congress has triggered uproar in Parliament, demanding the resignation of foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje for allegedly helping former IPL chief Lalit Modi get UK travel documents. The Congress also wants the ouster of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the multi-crore Vyapam scandal.
Yesterday the SP asked the Congress to allow a debate in Parliament on the issues it was raking up. Mulayam told Congress leaders to spell out their demand for breaking the logjam in the House, and allow the minister concerned and the government to answer.
On Tuesday, junior minister for parliamentary affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “The Prime Minister has expressed his gratitude towards Mulayam Singh Yadav for his effort to break the logjam.”
The treasury bench has listed the Constitution amendment bill relating to the Goods and Services Tax for discussion and passage in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The government has termed the GST rollout very crucial for the economy of the country, but the Congress and the Left have refused to reciprocate untill their demands were met.
