Janjivan Bureau / Hyderabad : Former Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker and TDP leader Kodela Shiva Prasad committed suicide at his Hyderabad residence on Monday. He was shifted to a hospital in serious condition where he died. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed shock at Kodela’s death.
He and his family had been booked in several cases after the TDP lost power in Andhra and YSRCP came to power.
Born in 1947, Kodela had served as a minister with NT Rama Rao and Chandrababu Naidu.
He was Speaker of the Andhra Assembly in 2014 in the TDP government
He also remained a minister of home affairs, health, irrigation, Panchayati Raj and rural development, and civil supplies during his three-decade-long political career.
Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed shock on the demise of the former speaker.
Born in Guntur, after graduating with an MBBS from Guntur Medical College, Kurnool got his MS (General Surgery) from Banaras Hindu University.
Senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishna while expressing shock blamed the YSR Congress party for “the death of the former speaker” saying that the government had been harassing him for the past few months by registering false cases against him and his family.
The police had booked Kodela after they recovered some Andhra Assembly furniture from his son’s showroom. He had described it as allegations “framing him”.
