Amlendu Bhushan Khan / New Delhi : Haryana and Maharashtra are going poll on the eve of Navratra and the result will declare before the Dipawali. Today the Election Commission of India announced the dates of polling for the state Assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra.
Both the states will go to polls in a single-phase simultaneously on October 21. The counting will be held on October 24.
The last date for filing the nominations is October 4; the scrutiny will be held on October 5, whereas the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 7.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the dates. The Model Code of Conduct, that will prevent the governments in these states from announcing any new schemes, sops or infrastructure projects, comes into force immediately.
The code shall also apply to the central government projects with respect to these two states.
Both states are being ruled by the BJP and have first-time chief ministers, Manohar Lal Khattar and Devendra Fadnavis.
The state polls are the first in any state since Narendra Modi again assumed power in May this year.
Answering questions, Arora said the Commission had spoken to social media entities and they had brought about a code of ethics. The commission will also monitor the social media.
The term of the 90-seat Haryana Assembly ends on November 2 and that of the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly on November 9.
