Janjivan Bureau / New Delhi : Justice S Ravindra Bhat of the Supreme Court on Thursday became the fifth judge to recuse himself from hearing Gautam Navlakha’s case. Navlakha is one of the five rights activists who were arrested in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon case.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice NV Ramana, Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice BR Gavai had recused themselves in the matter earlier. The case will go back to the CJI again who will assign it to an appropriate Bench which might take it up on Friday.
Navlakha—whose interim protection from arrest expires on Friday—faces arrest if it’s not further extended tomorrow. He is seeking the quashing an FIR in connection with Bhima-Koregaon violence. The Bombay HC had rejected his plea.
