Patna: In the first phase of Bihar assembly polls an estimated 33 percent electorates have so far exercised their right of franchise during the first five hours of voting till 12 noon.
Maximum 41 percentage voting was recorded in Jamui district of the state.Youths especially women are very much enthusiastic towards their votes.In minority dominated areas people have come out from their houses to cast their votes.
Polling is continuing peacefully amid tight security arrangements.
Non functioning of EVMs were reported from some constituencies but after getting reports concerned authorities have removed non- operational EVMs.
Meanwhile, a CRPF commandant, identified as P K Mishra, and his body guard Mantu Kumar were injured in a road mishap in Bihar’s Munger district during patrolling of elections.
The motor-cycle borne commandant and the jawan were injured when they lost control of the vehicle in order to save an animal, Mishra, who has been admitted to Sadar hospital, said.
Polling began amid tight security in 49 assembly seats spread in 10 districts of the state which are going to polls in the first phase today.
A total number of 1.35 crore electors were expected to cast their votes for 49 assembly seats for which 583 candidates, including 54 women, candidates are in the fray.
